The Great Commission given by Jesus

Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”(Matthew 18:18-20)

There are three great commissions given by Jesus.

  1. Make disciples of all nations
  2. Baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
  3. Teach them to observe everything I have commanded you.

Believing in Jesus, being baptized, and learning to keep all His words is the Great Commission, the last command that Jesus commanded.

The Great Commission given by Jesus
After Resurrection – The Great Commission to his disciples.

1) Make disciples of all nations

Behold, I am sending you what my Father has promised: stay in this city until you are clothed with power from on high (Luke 24:49).

These signs will follow those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes; if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16: 17-18)

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Then he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 15:15-16)

We must receive power from the Holy Spirit before we go out into the world. We must use the power of the Holy Spirit to drive out demons, heal the sick, and preach the gospel to non-believers. We must spread the gospel and make believers into disciples. Jesus made 12 disciples.

2) Baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I baptize you with water for repentance; but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. (Matthew 3:11)

When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had also received the word of God, they sent Peter and John, who went down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. Then the two apostles laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:14-17)

We must baptize those who have accepted the gospel and made disciples. You must baptize with water and administer the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire to become a person of the Holy Spirit.

3) Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you.

Therefore, wake up and remember how for three years I did not cease to admonish everyone with tears day and night. Now I commend you to the Lord and to his word of grace, which is able to build you up and sanctify you. He will give them an inheritance among all who wear them (Acts 20:31, 32).

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be complete, equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

We must teach them to keep all the words Jesus commanded, from Genesis to Revelation.

When we perform these three things, God’s love will be delivered, and just as Jesus promised, He will be with us until the end of the world. Amen.
